2. Papers / congress abstracts to read
[Other] Valle et al., JACC: Advances (23 Oct): computational predictive modelling added to CT-based planning in 157 consecutive valve-in-valve and redo-TAVR patients (2022–2025). Among patients rated high risk for coronary obstruction by conventional CT, leaflet modification was needed in 24.1% with modelling versus 46.8% without (P = 0.021), and no coronary obstructions occurred. This is retrospective and observational.

[Other] Akhtar, Salihu et al., Heart (online 13 Oct; Medscape summary 23 Oct): UK registry of 184 transcatheter mitral procedures at 12 centres (2016–2024). Technical success was 96% for valve-in-valve, 83% for valve-in-ring and 73% for valve-in-MAC, with 1-year mortality of 17%, 20% and 37% respectively.

3. New Devices in Cardiology and Structural Heart
[Other] TruLeaf Medical (AllMeD Solutions) completed the first stage of its RoseDoc fully percutaneous transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement programme in Uzbekistan (22 Oct): docking devices were implanted in two patients with massive TR and no acute complications, with valve deployment planned in the coming months. The company also reported 10–13-month follow-up from its first-in-human cohort in India.

4. Advances in Cardiology and Structural Heart Tech
[Other] Elucid received FDA 510(k) clearance for FFR-IQ (21 Oct), AI software that estimates fractional flow reserve from coronary CT angiography using both anatomy and plaque composition. The supporting ELUCIDATE FFR-CT study reported sensitivity of 92.2% and specificity of 93.1%, with full results due at TCT on 1 Nov.

Structural Heart News: Nothing new this run beyond sections 2 and 3.
Coronary Interventions:
[Other] Fuwai Hospital investigators, JAMA Network Open (22 Oct): in a prespecified secondary analysis of a randomised trial, quantitative flow ratio (QFR)-guided PCI was associated with lower 3-year MACE in patients with multivessel disease, though there was no significant interaction between treatment effect and multivessel status.

Electrophysiology:
[MDT] APHRS 2026 real-world registries (Medtronic, 22 Oct): the APEX registry of 1,050 AF patients treated with the Sphere-9 catheter and Affera system reported a 1.1% major complication rate, and the REAL PULSE registry of 1,160 AF patients treated with PulseSelect reported 100% acute success and a 0.09% major complication rate. A European APEX analysis of 46 VT patients showed 87% acute success and 75% estimated six-month freedom from VT; Sphere-9 is CE marked for VT but investigational for VT in the US.
